Sad thing is, that tiny Mark McGwire in Oakland, was a great college pitcher for USC (southern California), and, in his rookie season in MLB, hit 49 HRs. which is damn impressive for a rookie.

 

My bet is after he missed a season+ to foot injury, he took roids, to get back on his feet after that...

also, he was best friends with Jose Canseco.
