S2D: No, his scheme will not work against better defenses in the Big Ten. The spread offense is not as effective as it used to be, and teams are learning how to defend it. I also think it will be a long time before Michigan competes with Ohio State.

Yes. Rich Rod has been succesful everywhere he has gone and the Big Ten is not a speed leauge so when he gets all of his athletes in there, it is going to make a world of a difference.

He should be fine.  He will bring in a lot of athletes and should be competitive in the Big Ten.  My only worry is that he never had a big, fast defense and I dont know if he is good enough as a defensvie coach to hang with Ohio State and Penn State.  We will see.
