Albert Pujols, The Greatest Baseball Player Ever
If you are not a fan of Albert Pujols you certainly aren’t against him. He defines “going about your business.”
His first major league season was 2001. He did not come in under the radar. In his 4th major league game he hit his first home run. He closed out his 2001 rookie campaign with 37 home runs, which was nothing compared to Barry Bonds' 73 Home Runs, Sammy Sosa's 64 dingers, Luis Gonzales' 57, or even A-Rod's 52 homers. Ok, I think you get my point.
Albert went on to win NL Rookie of the Year and finished the season with a batting average of .329. If you didn’t know who Pujols was before the season, you knew who he was after.
In his 6th season in the Big Leagues, Pujols led his team to the World Series. In game one of the Series, Pujols hit a 2-run home run. The Cardinals went on to win the World Series in 5 games.
Pujols, through the 2006 Season, has a Rookie of the Year award, an MVP award, and a World Series ring. Since then he has won another MVP award and racked up a whole lot of stats. Looking at his career though his first 8 seasons, he averages almost 40 home runs per season and over 122 RBI’s per season.
At 29 years of age, Pujols is # 93 on the all-time home run list and leads all active players in career batting average. He is on pace to push for a lot of records in the middle of his career and he's starting off the 2009 season better than any of his previous seasons.
Albert Pujols is the greatest player of his time and may go down as the greatest baseball player ever by career's end.
In current day Major League Baseball, who else even comes close? Albert Pujols is the greatest baseball player ever, Do you agree or Disagree? Debate it here MORE RELATED CONTENT...
