2009 NBA Free Agent Projections

UR – Unrestricted Free Agent

R – Restricted Free Agent

Atlanta Hawks:

Mike Bibby – UR

Bibby has been the perfect piece for Atlanta.  Atlanta has the tools to be a playoff team (soon to be contender?), it starts with Bibby, and he will remain there in 2010.

Zaza Pachulia – UR

Signs a Mid-Level Exception with San Antonio. Two year deal to limit this investment.

Boston Celtics:

Stephon Marbury – UR

Will attempt a career revival with Sacramento, alongside Blake Griffin.

Charlotte Bobcats:

Sean May – R

Dallas makes an offer and Charlotte doesn't match.  Sean May will help Dallas down low.

Raymond Felton – R

Milwaukee signs Felton to an offer sheet.  Charlotte matches and Felton stays with the Bobcats.

Chicago Bulls:

Ben Gordon – UR

Utah Jazz sign Gordon.  Utah is in need of a shooting guard more than any team.  He will take pressure off Brewer and allow him to come of the bench.

Cleveland Cavs:

Wally Szczerbiak – UR

Signs a Mid-Level Exception with Detroit. They limit his years, and he can provide outside help.

Anderson Varejao
– UR (player option)

Stays for 2009/2010.

Dallas Mavericks:

Jason Kidd – UR

Sacrifices pay to play with Lakers in 2009/2010. Signs a Mid-Level Exception.

Detroit Pistons:

Allen Iverson – UR

Signs with Dallas at the Veteran Minimum. They are the only team willing to take a risk, giving A.I. major playing time.  The contract will not last more than 2-3 years.

Kwame Brown – UR (player option)

Does not opt out of his player option.

Antonio McDyess – UR

Signs Mid-Level Exception with Cleveland

Rasheed Wallace – UR

Re-signs with Detroit at a decreased rate, knowing they are setting themselves up for the following season's draft class.
